Helping Aiden: Living Life on the Spectrum

1 in every 68 children in the US are diagnosed with Autism, or Autism Spectrum Disorder. That means they are facing a range of challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and communication skills, as well as possessing unique strengths and differences.

One of our patient champions from last year, Aiden, has been diagnosed with Autism. Fortunately, thanks to the support of corporate and community partners like you, Aiden and his family are able to get the care and support they need to allow Aiden to live his life to the fullest. Aiden is seen regularly by the staff at his Primary Care Clinic and the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders. The experts at the center know that for each child, the severity of symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), can range from mild to severe. So they provide individualized structured and comprehensive interventions to significantly improve each child’s quality of life.

Care and interventions have certainly helped Aiden. “It has meant that Aiden can perform well in a ‘normal’ classroom and is not in a special needs class,” says dad, Chase.

When Aiden is not in school, he enjoys video games, art, and anything to do with science. And in 2017 he inspired our network by visiting and sharing his story with partners like IHOP, Costco, Dairy Queen, Walmart and Speedway. Every dollar raised by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals partners in Central Ohio goes directly towards providing care and research to help kids like Aiden do what they do best – just be kids!
