Big Dreams for Cam

Born in China, Cameron or Cam, underwent his first open hear surgery at just four months old.  Two days after arriving in Ohio, Cam celebrated his second birthday with his forever family and began receiving care at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.  He was diagnosed with double outlet right ventricle (DORV), a type of congenital heart defect in which both the pulmonary and aortic arteries are connected to the right ventricle.  He is followed closely by his doctors, and will need additional open-heart surgeries as he grows.

Cam is a big Columbus Blue Jackets fan and his favorite player is Cam Atkinson, because they share a name. Someday, Cameron would love to play hockey, and is currently working with physical therapy to get stronger so he can. When he grows up, Cameron wants to be a Zamboni driver, a hockey referee, or the singer of the National anthem at Columbus Blue Jacket games – like Leo Welsh.
