MEET 2024 NATIONAL CHAMPION NYLAH

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals proudly introduces its newest cohort of National Champions, a group of extraordinary ambassadors dedicated to raising awareness about the critical need for charitable donations to support pediatric healthcare. These inspirational children and their families hail from diverse backgrounds and represent various member hospitals across the U.S. Each Champion’s unique journey exemplifies the profound impact of donations on their lives, underscoring the urgent need to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Meet Nylah:

Maintaining a healthy weight has been challenging for Nylah since early elementary school. For years, the insensitive comments from classmates took a toll on her mental well-being, and she became very conscious of her body image, withdrawing from certain activities with her family. The pandemic allowed her parents to see the impact this was having on Nylah’s self-perception. After being diagnosed with pre-diabetes, her family doctor referred her to Nationwide Children’s Hospital Play Strong and Healthy Weight and Nutrition programs.  After just a few weeks in the program, Nylah began to share how she was open to competing and enjoying gym class. She accepted the advice and guidance of the staff at the Healthy Children program and followed it closely. While Nylah has since been diagnosed with hypopituitarism and lack of adequate hormone production, making her health journey a bit more challenging, she’s ready to tackle the challenge head on. Today, Nylah now has the desire to exercise more at home with her family and is asking to try out for cheer and volleyball at school. Thanks to donations that help fund the Play Strong Program, Nylah was able to transform her mind and love of self.

Thanks to donations, Nationwide Children’s Hospital is able to offer programs like Play Strong that help kids like Nylah who struggle with maintaining a healthy weight and self-image, get the tools they need to make small changes and reach their goals.

Meet all the 2024 National Champions.
