“D is for Dancing” with CapaThon at Capital University

It takes a community to make a difference.

Sometimes it is more than the fundraising dollars that can change a life. Sometimes all you need is a day full of laughter, smiles, and an abundance of FUN to change a future.

That is exactly what the students at Capital University planned for the patient families at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. For their first annual dance marathon since before the pandemic, they decided to transform the view on this event. They wanted to build the connections with their student body, educate the community on what a dance marathon is and how it makes an impact; but most importantly come together to celebrate the journeys of their patient champions and their family members.

We could not be prouder of the students at Capital University for raising over $2k for Nationwide Children’s Hospital. This is a program that has been actively revamped throughout the entire school year. The students have been working on reconnecting the campus to the cause, actively presenting on local and national material while advocating for NCH & CMNH, as well as building relationships with all hospital connections.
An honorable note to touch on is that the students have a very strong connection through the nursing program at Nationwide Children’s, most of the Executive Board members are pursuing nursing careers at NCH which has fueled their passion from the beginning.

A special thank you to CapaThon’s Executive President, Hannah Riley, for going above and beyond on leading this program to such success. Hannah’s goal for the 2022-2023 school year was to raise awareness and bring back the core values to the program and throughout the campus. She successfully reached this goal by hosting many educational tabling events, presenting to various sorority & fraternity members, and even teaming up with her primary advisors to help recruit participants.

The Executive Board students have already begun planning the 2023-2024 program and event, we truly cannot wait to see what they have in store! Thank you for your endless amount of effort and perseverance, we are so thankful for your support!
